Apples in France

This is a piece I did a while ago, early last year in fact. The mother of my Melbourne Fruits project, she pioneered a whole new world. She is too cool for you and me, so don't even try... Never have I been so intimidated by vegetation.

Where else can I go with my worldly morsels?

(a+b) x (c+d) = x:y

a+b + what? you say? Check the key in the image above. Now this is a tricky one to explain. A t-shirt print I designed for a fabulous up and coming t-shirt label called Plum. They are based in Sydney and have a wonderful philosophy of plus & minus being key in all of their designs. Using this concept they employ independent designers to create positive tag lines and accompanying art. It's great to see designers getting inspired and crafting original ideas.
So above is Plum's Theory of Happiness. Boiled down to a mathematical equation it is partly inspired by Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Who ever thought happiness could be so simple?

Plum launches in February and I will be keep you posted with links etc.

A Tumbling Tea Party

An all time favourite of mine, Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I created this for a 3d bird house project. Lots of collage, sticky craft glue and oh-so careful application of it all. The characters come to life as they tumble out of the story book. I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and wish you a brilliant Blue New Year!

Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art school

This is my most favourite. Finally, I was just getting into a rhythm (after almost 3 hours) & then we had to wrap it up.

The two lovely ladies posing together.

The competition of the day entailed a Christmas themed drawing. I was lucky enough to win free tickets to see the red hot Red Door Burlesque show. As expected, it was full of tassels, sparkles and sexy music. Marvellous.

Miss Peachy Keen

Getting warmer.

Miss HoneyPot

Wow! I've never quite experienced a drawing class like this! It's been such a long time since I've done any life drawing and I can really notice it, but it was so great to get back into it. The last time I had the pleasure was in 2008 as part of our study curriculum. Unfortunately they discontinued the life drawing component in our second year which is such a shame. I think it's such a valuable skill to upkeep and enhances any visual artist's technique. These images are from the start of the session, warming up & getting a feel for the form & fluidity.

Miss HoneyPot performed her new roller skate routine with the help of a hula hoop...

Miss Peachy Keen

Last week I attend the revered Dr Sketchy's life drawing class. I've been hanging out to go for a long time and finally made the dream a reality. Yes, it was all I hoped for and so much more. We were treated to the burlesque delights of Miss PeachyKeen & Miss HoneyPot.

Queen of Hysteria

My first piece in an exploration of antagonyms. Ah, lest I cry! + Ha, lest I cry! = Hysterical. Back to front & inside out, an entanglement of riddles and equations...

Crazy about Clocks

These are my clock ladies. Inspired by my procrastinating idea for my trucker cap I decided to re-work the concept in ink. I have a fetish for ultra fine nibs so decided to indulge by working with 0.03 & 0.05 pens. Why on earth would you do that, you may ask? Well I thought it might be fun to test my attention to detail, concentration and above all, my patience. Of course. The things we do for love. Luckily success has prevailed and I'm now curious to experiment with some colour.

Little Miss Muffet, not yet a puppet

An unfinished project - this little lady is to become a jumping jack puppet of sorts. Done with acrylic and ink on hack-sawed ply board, it has taken a while to get this delicate creature thus far. At the moment she is highly fragile and in pieces. I kind of like her in pieces.
