The Vedettes: Vicenary Vixens Vying for Vicenial Vices

I finally have a copy of my 9x5 submission! Yes, I decided to opt for the long title. But not for the gouache...After a myriad of experimenting I decided my fantasy of dabbling with delicate gouache was to remain just that. "Maybe next time" assured my sensible side before suggesting the safer option of acrylic and pencil. Good idea. You can check out all of the pieces for preview and auction here.

Polished Proctrastination

The Trucker cap finally finished! I can't wait to see them all on display at Semi-Permanent In October.

Trucking Trial!

A sample of my experimentation for the cap. Acrylic, ink, pencil and a myriad of stitching. My tired little fingers had become calloused before the 'pretend' toiling had even concluded. Maybe if I calloused them enough they would become unprickable. I like staying positive.

Procrastinating...Practising No Art

This is a rough design for the Get Trucked cap. The idea started with my smoking twins but I wasn't in the mood for such dames this time. This led to 'no ideas' time. Inevitably this results in some form of procrastination, which induced the exploration of anagrams once again. Alas, this time the time-wasting was worthwhile and I began tinkering with clocks and ladies.

Get Trucked

Get Trucked is an annual group exhibition raising money for Canteen - The Australian Organisation for Young People with Cancer. Artists have been asked to decorate/paint/mutate trucker caps for the show. It is presented by gallery 696 and part of Semi-Permanent in Melbourne this October. This is one of many sketches I did whilst brainstorming.

Smoking Twins

Okay, I think I've got a thing for this smoking French twin thing. Here's a rough drawing I played around with before I came up with the leggy ladies. There's a lot to work on here but it's a nice starting point to bank for the future. PS. I'm obsessed with mirror images.

Leggy Ladies Colour Scheme

A quick test run on the colour scheme for my lovely ladies. The scheme is classic & came together relatively easy. I'm pondering the medium to use...I was thinking gouache, but am slightly reserved about this as the last (only ever) time I used it I stuffed it up. And I am still undecided on the title.

Leggy Ladies

Illustrators Australia are having their annual 9x5 exhibition as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival in October. The theme for the show is Twenty in celebration of IA's 20th anniversary. Below is the conception of my own contribution..

Here is a line drawing of my Vicenary Vixens. I'm really enjoying the idea of experimenting with mirrored images & am fascinated with Siamese twins & the like. I got so excited & spent more time playing with alliteration in the title before the image even came to fruition. Actually, it's more of a paragraph rather than a title...It was pretty long. Some times I get carried away with tangents.

Frankston Tomato

Gaz n Baz.

A Definitive & Edible Examination of Melbourne

I have started a project, illustrating the different aspects of Melbourne and it's lovely sub-cultures. I actually started the idea of apples in France, but never returned to the affair until now.
Then one day I had an epiphany; "Sausages in Toorak.. But of course!" It just seems so right, I thought. And off I went on my merry little way, from Toorak to Frankston. I wonder where my journey will take me next...Brussels? Or Broadmeadows?

Sausages in Toorak; A Study in Pink

"...Oh my god, I love pink!" exclaimed Veronique

Sausages in Toorak

Have you seen the Sausages in Toorak? They do exist.
